This Privacy Policy applies to the access and use of Upopolis website, which is a private online community and any successor sites thereof (“Upopolis”). The Kids’ Health Links Foundation, an Ontario non- profit corporation (“KHLF,” “we,” “us”), provides Upopolis and all site-related services (collectively, the “Site” or “Upopolis”) to authorized individuals (“users”).
KHLF collects some information about its users which is not personally identifiable to such users and which helps us improve the design and content of the Site and make the Site more interesting and useful to users. For example, we collect information on the number and frequency of users and visits to particular areas on the Site and the number and frequency of users who participate in an activity, contest or game. We only use such information in the aggregate and do not combine this non-personally identifiable information with personally identifiable information described below.
In addition, KHLF collects the following personally identifiable information about its users at the time such users register to use the Site: (a) the user’s name, date of birth and gender, (b) the name, address, phone numbers and email address of the user, and (c) if the user is under 18 years of age, the name, address, phone numbers and email address of the user’s parent or guardian. At the end of the registration process, the user is given a screen name (which for some users also functions as an email account) and password. To enable users to participate in some of our online activities and features, KHLF may ask them to send KHLF an email message or fill out an online form which may include personally identifiable information. Any such information collected by us, including the email address provided by the user, will be used for purposes relating only to such online activities and features. Also, users may submit, upload, reveal or otherwise provide certain information, images, text and pictures through their use of the Site, participation in online activities, games and contests or in chat rooms, blogs and discussion areas. Any such information collected by us will be used for purposes relating only to the Site.
KHLF uses users’ personally identifiable information for promoting the Site as well as for our internal purposes, such as to enable users to subscribe to our online and email newsletter, to express their opinions on various topics, to provide feedback and comments about various features of the Sites, to send instant messages and to chat with other Upopolis users, to introduce users to new features, areas or content of the Site, and for other internal purposes. KHLF, sometimes with the help of a third party, uses the non-personally identifiable information that it collects in the aggregate to improve the design and content of Upopolis and to enable KHLF to enhance the Upopolis experience. KHLF also may use this information to analyze Upopolis usage. Any such third party does not retain, share, store or use this information for any other purpose.

Other than as described in the section DISPLAY OF USER INFORMATION ON Upopolis below, KHLF will not disclose personally identifiable information of users to third parties unless it obtains the consent of the user (and if applicable, the user’s parent or guardian), unless it is required to do so by law (for example, in response to a court order or a summons), to enforce the Terms of Use, or in special cases where there is a threat to users or to protect the safety and security of users of the Site. KHLF also may disclose such information in response to a law enforcement agency’s request. Please note, however, that we are not responsible for and do not control any third party use of any information posted, uploaded or otherwise disclosed by users on the message boards, chat rooms, blogs, activities, games and other communication forums found on the Site which are accessible by other users of the Site.
KHLF does not disclose the last name of users on the Site but keeps such information for administrative purposes only. However, in some instances the screen name, age and gender, along with a textual or image submission or audio or video content, of a user may be posted on or transmitted through the Site in connection with a game, contest, communications feature, or other feature of the Site. Additionally, information, text and images posted or disclosed by the user on chat rooms, blogs, message boards, communications and other features of the Site may reveal personally identifiable information about the user. KHLF does not have the obligation to monitor such postings but has the right to alter or remove such postings, as described in the Terms of Use.
Upopolis may contain direct links to other Internet sites. However, please be aware that KHLF does not control and is not responsible for the content, privacy practices and other terms and conditions governing the use of such other Internet sites or any other Internet sites which are linked to such sites. KHLF encourages parents and guardians to become informed of the privacy practices and other terms and conditions of all such other Internet sites. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected by KHLF in relations to the use of Upopolis.
